Not a fan of their smoothies. I keep striking out when it comes to finding a good smoothie spot in Castro Valley. I've tried 3 so far and they're all subpar. Of course, there's Jamba Juice. At least, you know what you're getting there.
This cafe still has a huge section of their indoor seating closed off and they're not allowing customers to use their bathrooms (September 2022).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Terry F.San Mateo, United States168179149Oct 20, 2023
Bodi's Java in Castro Valley is like that quirky friend who always has a new surprise for you. I popped in for a coffee, and I swear I ended up having a conversation with the barista that felt like I was discussing life, the universe, and everything. The caffeine might be strong, but the conversation was stronger!
The décor is what I'd call "cozy chaos." It's like a jigsaw puzzle where every piece is a different shape and color, but somehow it all fits together in a wonderfully bizarre way. And don't get me started on their pastries - they're like edible stand-up comedy, a delightful twist on the classics. The reason for not giving them the full five stars? Well, sometimes I just want a straightforward cup of joe without the existential pondering, but who am I to deny Bodhi's its unique charm?Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 14, 2023
Good local coffee spot, not sure if it's a new place or not (seems like it changed ownership not that long ago). Ordered a latte, coffee w/steamed milk and two sandwiches. The bacon, pepperjack, and egg sandwich I had was pretty good, but definitely not worth the price tag due to its size. Four items ran me like $32, so certainly not cheap (or that's just market rate now, sadly). The coffee w/steamed milk was good and very hot, but that is a fairly basic drink, so hard to mess that one up. I saw a bunch of local people hanging out inside, so I like it has a small town appeal. But not sure I would be in a huge rush to come back to the sandwich pricing (coffee pricing seemed reasonable).

I love that this place is a mom and pop shop and it's a great place to grab coffee. However, the bathrooms don't work so I'm not able to wash my hands or use the restroom which is kind of crazy for a coffee shop since coffee makes you use the restroom. I also think their food is slightly overpriced.

Classic coffee place: this is a staple of the community in Castro Valley and has been there for many years. When there are so many corporate options to choose from, this place offers an alternative: have something local. It is well worth the visit if you are looking for a coffee spot to enjoy a pleasant morning with some friends away from the busy corporate business.

If I could give no stars I would in a heart beat. Absolutely terrible service! We walked in to order 2 mochas, and I found the bathroom that had a sign that said "customers only." Considering we're about to pay for 2 drinks equaling over $10 we would be customers. The man working the front register said no bathroom and said we didn't want the drinks and cancelled the order and walked away before we could even buy the drinks and we could find another restroom! Never in my life have I had someone working in customer service be so out right rude!

Really wanted to like this place. Went in at 1:00 to do a couple of hours of work before they close at 3:00. However, the back where larger tables were was dark and they tell me that area is closed. Ok, so I set up by the window and pack it up at 2:45 since they've started cleaning/closing around me. I ask where the restroom is and they tell me no restroom available. Really???

Nice couple. Locally owned business. The food is descent. The coffee is okay. They have a lot of different flavors and all the different types of coffee drinks. If you like it strong, go to Peet's. They have many tea varieties. They have lots of different breakfast and lunch wraps. Nothing low carb except for salads. I ordered the tuna salad a couple times now. It's not bad. It has walnuts in the tuna salad and something else. I wish it was meatier in texture.
Next time I may try the salmon salad.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - CaliGuy C.San Leandro, United States40236Sep 5, 2023
Coffee, bagel with cream cheese, tables and WiFi were ok. Restrooms, however, were not available even for paying customers, so I had to walk all the way up to Safeway to use one. This is unforgivable for a Coffee Shop. Please make one available, or I'll have to pick another Coffee Shop for my needs.
