Very courteous and kind staff. Help me to understand every aspect of my treatments. I drive around 2 hours to get there worth every minute to know that I am in good hands.

I have been super impressed by the staff and doctor, at East TN Vein Clinic...we always got in early, by a warm friendly staff...that kept you informed and attended to, the entire process...I must admit anything to do with taking out of ones veins, kind of bothered me a wee bit. (at first)...But from the get go, the up beat team, made my fear disperse...always smiles as I came in and out...
And my legs are not totally done yet, but dang, I can feel a huge improvement...have more yet to go...I must say they hand out the entire paperwork of what's going to happen...your needs to bring per visit...the entire flow of the procedures...all worries, questions answered...Dr Douglas was outstanding...and staff, on the ball attentive and just plain NICE!!!
Update last visit, 8-22-18...I am done, and thanks so very much, for the entire staff, your all a Godsend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you for leaving a 5-star rating and positive review of our office. The team at East Tennessee Vein Clinic is thrilled to hear such good feedback, as we strive to treat our patients like "we" would want to be treated. Did you know we offer a Spider Vein Maintenance Program to help keep your legs looking beautiful? Please give our office a call if you need further assistance or want to hear more. Thank you again for your kindness and as always we appreciate and value our patients!

My initial appt. with Dr. Douglass went well, but was very disheartening after that. I was scheduled for my second visit a week later, on Thursday, Feb. 9th. On Wednesday, the 8th, my kids school closes for the rest of the week due to illnesses, and my own son tests positive for the flu. I get my reminder call about my appt. and I told the secretary that I'd most likely need to reschedule. She told me I would be charged $50 because I had not canceled within their 48hr policy. She offered to let me talk to the "office manager", the one authorized to make an exception, who then was a complete jerk to me. I know any office that does any type of procedures has to prepare, and have extra stuff, staff, etc. But, there is such a thing as kindness, understanding, and compassion, also. I do not value my time above anyone else's, as I was accused of by this doctor, but there was nothing I could do. Unless, I bring my kids in and let them cough all over everyone. Really?! Not an option.
I left a review on Google and got a nasty response back, then I posted the review on FB, which had multiple shares. "Magically", the response to my review on Google changed tone a little, after many people left reviews of their own, criticizing the doctors response. Beware of this office...they do not do what's right ethically or morally!!
If you have an emergency or die within 48hrs of your appt with them, expect a bill anyway!!!;)
2/14-In response...Dear, Mrs. Arnold-I was not offended by the policy, I was offended by you, and the way you acted. It is shameful that you treat your patients this way. You would've come out a lot better if you would've just rescheduled the appointment. Period. Also, I suggest a refresher in people skills, and how to relate to a them.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

2/14/17: Dear Mrs. Mason, I'm sorry for your unfortunate experience with our office and my cancellation/no show policy is not meant to be offensive. I formed a cancellation policy over fifteen years ago where there is a fee of $50 for cancellations less than 48 hours before a scheduled appointment if we are unable to fill the appointment with another patient. If we are able to fill the appointment there is no fee. All patients are informed of this policy which applies to all appointments after their initial consultation. I do this for several reasons. 1. We care for our staff and do not overwork them by overbooking the appointment schedule as is the custom in many offices. We do good work and do not hurry our work lest we make errors. 2. We value our patient's time and make every effort to prevent patients from waiting long periods of time to be seen as is the custom in many offices. 3. Our appointments are long, lasting a minimum of 45 minutes up to two hours. We see a limited number of appointments each day. These are prolonged appointments requiring ultrasound and the assistance of specialized staff including an ultrasound sonographer, medical assistant and registered nurse or physician's assistant. This staff is left without a patient to attend in the event of being unable to fill the appointment. The $50 fee covers a fraction of the cost of maintaining a medical specialist office for that one appointment. Every attempt is always made to fill the appointment but, many patients can't on less than a day's notice change an appointment to have a procedure such as a laser ablation, phlebectomy or foam sclerotherapy performed on varicose veins, especially given many of our patients drive a great distance to be seen. I do regret I find it necessary to have such a cancellation policy in place but, as stated above if we are able to fill a cancelled appointment, we do not charge the $50. Fortunately, in this situation we were able to fill your cancelled appointment and you were not charged or billed a fee. We value our patients and have served them faithfully since 2001. We appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention. ~ Andrew M. Douglass, MD

Mrs. Mason,
The response to your review was written and sent by Dr. Douglass but, under my profile. (He was out of the office on Thursday, February 9th and Monday, February 13th and responded upon his return to the office on February 14, 2017.)
In regards to the additional comment addressed specifically to me; I do sincerely apologize that I came across as rude when trying to explain our cancellation policy; as that was never my intent. I now realize our conversation did not make for a good "first" impression and that truly saddens me. My management style for the last 20+ years has always been to "try" to live and lead by example and personally have tried to follow the "Golden Rule" as a guide.. Unfortunately, I am human and have failed many times but, more specifically in my interaction with you. Again, I am sorry and ask that you forgive me and not use my shortcomings as an indicator or a reflection of East Tennessee Vein Clinic and/or Dr. Andrew Douglass. Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention and may it be a reminder to "me" to serve our patients "better" going forward. ~Cindy Arnold~Feb 10, 2017Previous reviewMy initial appt. with Dr. Douglass went well, but was very disheartening after that. This review is about Andrew Douglas, not East Tennessee Vein Clinic. I was treated by him in the year 2002 when he was working for Vein Clinics of America. He would not treat my right leg unless I had deep vein treatment on it at a cost of $8,000.00. I went for a second opinion, and the doctor told me that the large vein in my leg did not need treatment. He showed me the ultrasound picture, and the vein was small with no disease. Andrew Douglas treated my left leg, but said that he was going to leave some of the veins that he had told me were diseased for the circulation of my foot. He just wanted to save some work for later. I hope he is not still doing this type of thing for the sake of his patients.

Upon first arrival and after meeting Dr. Douglass, I thought that this would be a wonderful place to go to have my veins fixed. I met with him in a consultation and he discussed treatment and recommended that I do a 4 part treatment. I asked how much the the treatment would be and he said $240. This was the same amount quoted by another office of a different doctor, as well, but they do the treatment in one visit. I thought since he seemed more thorough, I would go here. i went to my first treatment (paid $240) and it went well. I made the appt for the next one, came in and they told me it was an additional $240. I was like wait, I was told $240 for all. They said oh no, it's $240 per visit. I was never told this. I spoke with the director about this. She asked the doctor and he denied this! (big surprise NOT!) I don't think he intentionally lied to me, but when I said is this for all treatments, and he said yes, I think he meant individually and I meant all meaning ALL. I did not know this at the time, or I never would have scheduled my appt with them. I only had my veins treated on one leg and now I'm stuck with that unless I want to shell out the rest of the money. They were not very friendly or christian like (like the atmosphere seems when you are there) I was made to feel like I was crazy and lying. If you are doing a treatment plan, you need to break it down on an estimate sheet, so there is no question and not mis-inform , then deny and treat someone like they are dirt and you are all snooty! Needless to say, I guess your money is more important than your word, values, or God, because you are not treating people like God would have you to!!! I will take my money elsewhere and let everyone know how you are treated there!
